Where I work, you get in big trouble if you don't have a person standing at the back of the truck to make sure you don't hit anything. Most the time the drive doesn't need you back there, so you end up just standing there. But, it's in the rules.

@mrccross: Well, our stations have bays you can drive through, but you still need to back up fairly regularly.

fire fighters are beast like that and can do that =)
