Imam: Koran burnings free speech

Terry Jones had planned a 'Burn the Koran Day' and later postponed. Now Bob Old, a pastor in Tennessee, is planning his own Koran burning event. President Obama called the events out of line with the American value of tolerance and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said the actions could endanger US troops abroad.

Imam Abdul Alim Musa of Masjid Al-Islam Mosque in Washington said, while the burning of the Koran is a horrible act to Muslims, these individuals still have their constitutional right to free speech and should be allowed to move forward. The government should not restrict the constitution anymore than it already is. Musa further argued that one simply needs to read the Koran to know it is not a text of violence and in fact shares many aspects with Christianity.

well, I don't see how any Christian pastor can burn the Qur'an, it mentions Jesus (PBUH) 25 times. It has a whole chapter on his mother (Mary/Mariam)

If I were a muslim and see someone burns a book of the qurans,I would just laugh and never be offended for burning papers but if someone burns the original quran then I would be very offended and very mad,but when muslim uthman caliph burned the original quran from its root no one muslim was offended and questioned and till current days no one muslim is being offended by muslim uthman caliph's act,why...?

Any political or fantastical or religious book who commands violence,terror,killing,it must be banned by the law of international council,otherwise civilised democratic states must struggle terrorists & citizens pay high prices for bloody consequences,in fact,the quran commands the muslims for violence & terror,the quran's evil verses & killing commands are very clear in the quran & islamic books (hadith) & fanatic muslims evil acts are very clear on the ground,no one can twist & deny about it,
