They like to associate this crime with the holocaust so there would be a trigger. A trigger in which the public minds will take them back and sympathise with the victim, rather questioning why he really was murdered.
That same things you see going on with Muslims. The media always associates a Muslim to bombings overseas, making the public get the wrong impression that every Muslims are terrorists, which is absurd to say the least.
