I'm Lindsay Dodd.
I was BAFTA nominated in 1992 for recording sound in Siberia for a Tv series.
I watched the Incredible Human Journey on BBC the other night and got interested

because the presenter, Dr Alice Roberts journeyed to Siberia to film reindeer

herders.
As we had done exactly the same thing back in 1990 for CH4 I was intrigued.
However, she stated that, "These Evenky are one of the most isolated peoples in the

world and this is the first time they have allowed their camps tp be filmed."

Remarkably I had caught a glimpse of Anatoly - Toyla we called him back then. He was

sat behind Dr. Roberts in a plane flying to Siberia! We spent 3 months in his

company back then and he is very distinctive looking. Looks a bit like Mr Spock!
Incredidibly - given the fact that (according to Dr Roberts) this is the first time

the Evenky have been filmed he was seen drinking fresh reindeer blood - saying that

it tasted like french wine! He was also seen in other scenes.

Its a bit shameful to allege that this is the first time a situation has been filmed

when one of the characters in the BBC film appeared on CH4 19 years ago

  • Dr Alice said "These Evenky are one of the most isolated peoples in the

world and this is the first time they have allowed their camps to be filmed."

I'm not saying that we filmed in the same camp.

The same guy that we filmed in to 90's is in her film drinking blood and accompanies her on the plane!

  • f'in' highlarious bro

  • i really like the last line.

  • Things like that are, part of the reason why the genre is called documentary. An erroneous or exaggerated statement, as here claimed, is still not cheating but still puts a pall over a documentary.

  • perhaps it is a big deal in the documentary film industry...

  • That was very funny :) And incisive.

  • I have been watching 'The Incredible Human Journey' and have found it to be a drawn out poorly made copy of 'The Journey of Man' by Spencer Wells, so I can certainly believe your claim. Every time she asked a question I wanted to tell her the answer because it had already been explained much more clearly in 'The Journey of Man' Shame on the BBC !

  • I've been meaning to watch this programme but the presenter looks annoying. Tell the Daily Mail , they love stories about how bad the BBC are

  • Didnt she say first filming inside the camp?

In which case how about positing your video of inside the camp to support your complaint
