Suzanne Haïk-Vantoura, LA MUSIQUE DE LA BIBLE REVELEE, Harmonia Mundi France, HMA 190989. This upgraded video of Psalms 24 is based on the track from the original LP recording (1976) that went with the original French book of the same title (1st ed., Robert Dumas, 1976; 2nd ed., Dessain et Tolra, 1978; English edition, BIBAL Press, 1991). The recording was eventually released as a CD but is now out of print. (Technically the soundtrack comes from the CD.)
The first track on this recording is Psalms 23. When I heard that track for the first time on the LP, I was immediately struck by its "authenticity". By the time I got to the third track, Psalms 24, I knew I had to find out if Mme. Haïk-Vantoura was "on the level". I had never been one who appreciated music in harmonic minor mode, but Psalms 24 changed my mind on that forever. It was overwhelming.
Commentators generally concede that David wrote this Psalm in associating with the bringing of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, yet its vision extends far beyond that time to what numerous prophecies in Hebrew Scripture foretell: the coming of the LORD of Hosts, the King of Glory, to rule on earth from Jerusalem.
