Watchmen - unboxing The Ultimate Cut DVD

"Who watches the Watchmen?"

I do! :)

Recently I watched the entire, complete story DVD - the 215 minute cut with all the extra, director's cut footage and the animated "Tales of the Black Freighter" footage edited together.

I loved it!

Then I watched it all again with director Zack Snyder's commentary on. Decent commentary, but he could have used a few guests to keep it moving along and lively.

Watchmen is a film that begs repeat viewings if you're a big fan of the original DC Comics mini-series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. There is so much detail from the book layered into the film, as well as tons of winks to other comics, like Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" and other genre films that you can't take it all in with only one viewing.

Feel free to leave a comment and tell me your opinion of the film and/or the DVD.

I'd like to know if there are even more extras on the Blu-Ray DVD, as I don't have Blu-ray yet.

@ScubaMagic2121 the original mini-series for Watchmen came out in the late 80s and included 12 comic books, which you can now buy in one graphic novel for about $12 on Amazon - you really should read it - it's fantastic and I think you'll understand the ending much more. Rorschach's journal contains all the information about how Ozymandis fooled the world at the end of the film, so the newspaper will publish the story and expose him.

@ScubaMagic2121 the ending of my video here or the ending of The Watchmen? My suggestion is to read the graphic novel - it's one of the best comic books of all time, and while the ending is slightly different than in the movie, I think it'll help you understand.
