What a great display of drumming, both Joey and Dick Cully are high achievers. I just hope drummers watching this are inspired to learn and woodshed enough to bring their own talent up as high as they can. Thanks Dick and Joey!!

There are closed to a drum battle who happened in Las vegas in 62' between Louis Bellson and Buddy Rich, where Buddy did the fastest solo of all I know with him...
-
Joe was a protege of Buddy Rich and his roadie.

All of the above drummers did appear and play. As a mattewr of fact the only thing missing was my brilliant introduction as MC "...Please, no smoking and no flash photograpy..."

You have to admit, if you close your eyes, that easily could have been Buddy & Louie in their best days. On the Tonite Show. Only thing missing, better sound with better mics, etc. Great stuff !!

SWIVO-MATIC, not Dyna-Sonic that was Ellis Tollin's snare for Ben Strauss and Joe Thompson.
Joe is a friend of mine and a kick ass drummer.

Big schmaltz, glitz, Vegas, broads, booze, cigars.
When I listen to this, I feel like gingerly stepping up to a big, kitschy Vegas all-you-can-eat $3.99 buffet, sporting a swanky cigar in one hand and a bourbon in the other and having a nice 3 lb. slab or roast beef and two heapingfulls of mashed potatos and gravy, while sitting between to satin-sheeting big-bosomed broads.
I'm waiting for Sinatra or Sammy Davis to come out smoking a big cig and sipping champagne and being suave.
YOY!
