Here is the only print of a rare Little Lulu cartoon I found: Lulu's Birthday Party.

However, it's a horrible print for many reasons: constant splice bumps every few seconds, terrible damage, and the opening credits missing, save for a few frames for the animator credits.

And from info thanks to HoemoftheGoodGuys, the end title comes from a 1939 Warner Bros. film called Juarez. I know it shouldn't have been done this way, but it is still a very weird move, by some film duplicating company.

This comes from my public domain video called "Bugs Bunny" by Star Classics.

  • I like this one, its so cute, but the rascit portrayal of "mandy" is so uncool. But

I understand that was just the thinking at the time, in 20's-40's the cartoon mannerisms and facial expressions of the black characters were supposed to seem humorous... to mostly white audiences. Im an animation major so I can appreciate the historical facts behined these classic cartoons.

  • You think you could uploaded the whole vhs?

  • @mariamnewton No it is not, m8.. Mammy Two-Shoes was filmed only from the waist down. Hanna & Barbera never showed her face..

  • @wynterstorm04 As an AA, I can totally understand your viewpoint. My son is bi-racial, 4 years old, and I've already had to try to tactfully explain stereotypes to him. I also do not remember seeing the Mamsy character before. But since I am a lover of all things vintage & yesteryear, I chew the meat & spit out the bones. I also think that since this was the reality of how we were viewed, it's a distinct part of our history & could serve as a great platform to teach our kids about racism. ;-)

  • look at the frogs face at 1:38.lol

  • What is this from the 40s?

  • can you get these from your tape:

The wabbit who came to supper (starring Bugs Bunny) --

Ali-Baba bound (starring Porky Pig) --

  • Is that lady Mammy Two Shoes from tom & jerry?

  • Famous Studios seemed to have created the stereotypical black maid as a throw-away character for both the Little Lulu and Little Audrey shorts. The only cartoons she appeared in were the earliest ones because by the time both characters were developed, the maid did not serve a purpose anymore in either series and essentially disappeared.

  • @NiceGreenGirl Thanks for the Historical facts but this video pissed me off. I use to watch Little LuLu as a kid, and I never remember seeing something like this. So here I am on youtube.com trying to show my 6 year old what mommy use to watch. As an African American, how embarrassing. :(

  • Isn't she the same woman on Little Audrey.
