Kids in America have always been told that the key to success is to go to college, get a degree, and then, the jobs would come. We'll kids in America today are getting a rude awakening, thanks in
great part to the recession, which is leaving them unemployed and in debt thanks to tuition fees. So a group of economists and educators is now pushing for a change. They're telling kids that skipping college, might end up being the best decision they'll ever make. Alyona discusses with one of those professors, Robert Lerman a Professor of Economics at American University.

  • If they want everyone to go to College, why don't they make High School another 4 mindless years of school where you HAVE to go and find something you "want to do" and not have to pay so much money in tuition?

  • Four years studying a lot of different subjects...lady please. A couple of classes in different subjects doesn't make you knowledgeable in a lot of areas. Will Hunting said it best:. you dropped a 150 grand on a fuking education that you could have gotten for a $1.50 worth of late charges at the public library.

  • "Expanding your mind" is code for booze, drugs and sex right? If so, then I'm totally down for college next year.

  • Public education did a great job in preparing me for working by teaching me that I'm not a person who matters and that I should just not speak my mind, and I should stay out of the way and shut up unless I want to be punished. They taught me that if someone is harassing me that I should not tell anyone because authority will punish me instead and my peers will not respect me if I do, so I have to punish my enemies ruthlessly without telling anyone.

  • wow the WHOLE INTRODUCTION WAS ABOUT HOW HE IS SAYING TO SKIP COLLEGE AND THE FIRST THING THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH IS IM NOT SAYING TO SKIP COLLEGE. WOW RUSSIAN TIMES SO HORRIBLE OF NEWS LOL

  • @Aaustin747 Well math and computer science isn't that hard.

  • @MadDogMeh and you also need to be good at math and computer science; which all of them were. not so easy now..

  • Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, all of them don't have college degrees. You don't need to spend money to get money, you need an idea and you need to work on it.

  • @8brandenv networking is BS old school nonsense advice

  • @redherringbone GOOD WILL HUMPING WAS A GOOD PORNO !!

  • Contrary to what many say about arts degrees being worthless, I have come across various job postings that are not math or science driven and require a university bachelor degree to have your application even considered. Yes arts degrees will not hand hold you to a career in medicine or law but they "prove" you have the ability to work and think. An arts degree is a way to get yourself through the door, it is up to you to make your own opportunities and connections through networking.
