Gloria by the Shadows was THE dance song of the era. I never heard of the earlier version by Them until years later... turns out it had a word that the censors didn't like. The Shadows changed the word, added a chord to the rhythm, and a hit was made.

I wrote you from TX in 68 and said that if you got your act together, Willie Jean would be a big hit, esp. in the South. Too much coke and too many drag races with your Olds 442. I rememver, but do you?
