Trossinger Vokalensemble, conducted by Robert Kopf, sings Nachtlied Op. 138, No. 8 "Wir glauben an einen Gott" by Max Reger (1873-1916) in Laufen Church, near Rottweil, Germany, on July 26, 2009. I post this old video because I just realized there are no versions of "Wir glauben" on YouTube.
Wir glauben an einen Gott,
Schöpfer Himmels und der Erden;
We believe in one God,
Creator of heaven and earth;
With words he let all things become his bidding.
Of the gentle one he was born,
Mary, the pure and chosen,
For comfort to us and all Christendom.
For us he wanted to suffer,
Whether we want to avoid severe pain,
The death of eternity.
Audio/Video is raw with no effects; reverb is natural from the church. Recorded using a Zoom H4 sitting in one of the pews, and a 2007 Flip Video handheld by my lovely fiancee Katrine. Please see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtvhvyvO5wk for a description of Robert's chamber choir project.
Opus 138 dates from 1914, but Reger requested that it not be published until after the war. However, his publisher decided to publish the works just after Reger's death in 1916.
