And this is a perfect example of why our system sucks.

These brainless douchebags at the CDF&G just don't want to admit they made a mistake putting the ferrets on the prohibited list in the first place. In fact they at one time admitted they had no jurisdiction over domesticated animals, but still refuse to legalize them, even though ferrets are not wild animals. But they protect introduced species like wild boar, who eat ground nesting birds and are far more destructive then millions of ferrets.

ok seriously jst give us the fucking ferrets if it will kill us than it is out problem.

wow I cannot BELIEVE the arrogance and just plain ignorance this man showed towards your brave campaign to legalize the harmless and loving ferret! THANK YOU for leading the Ferret Crusades!

The funny thing is, you literally can't drive 25 feet in a car without breaking some law. Literally speaking. There are many, MANY ferrets in CA. If the F & G thought they were so dangerous, all they would have to do is arrange a meeting with all the craigslist ferret sellers. One has to really wonder why they are on the list ONLY in CA and HI(states). Does the ferret suddenly become less dangerous in Oregon? I would agree if it were a true wild animal, like racoon, but these are domestics.

arnold schwarzenegger had a ferret while he was governor of california

Isn't there someone who is above those (I apologize) "I don't give a fuck, I said no, get out of here" suckers, in front of whom, may be a lawyer can talk and if they care a little bit more about people and have more brains, may be they will legalize ferrets?!
Maybe we should put them in a room full of ferrets, then they'd see what wonderful pets they make!

@lookslikejessica Interesting idea . I doubt most of them have ever had any experience with ferrets at all.

@TheXJthatCould I'm going to presume you mean if they got out would they establish a feral population? Short answer, no. Almost all ferrets in the US are spayed and neutered before sales. In addition to that the ferret has been so domesticated most ferrets that do get out of the home will die within a few days from exposure and/or starvation/lack of water if they are not taken in by a kind hearted individual.
In the 47 states where ferrets are legal there is no feral population.
