Happy New Year! Decided to shoot a little homestead update. We're all doing fine up here in the mitten, pouring over the seed catelogs, taking inventory of what I have on hand, getting ready to plan next year's gardens. You're probably doing the same. I am so looking forward to having partners this year to garden with as two other ladies will be joining me in raising fresh, healthy produce for our collective families. My goal is for nothing "decent" (that is, not over-ripe or insect damaged) to go to the chickens or pigs this year.

Let's all be hopeful and not pessimistic about 2012!

  • Your weather is being manipulated..We found 20,000 ppm aluminum 60,000 ppm barium and an unknown bacteria in air, water and soil analysis from College Station Texas...If you look up you can see clouds that aren't clouds, they're metals and their being dumped right over your head. These metals can be heated with electromagnetic radiation, such as cell phone towers or the High Altitude Auroral Research Project equipment (30,000,000 watts) and there are several base stations...WAKE UP ALREADY..

  • @TheRiceowlex Okay, I'm awake. Now, what should I /we do about / with this information? Everyone likes to sound alarms, but no one points to the exits . . . .

  • love your rooster and chickens , what are the containers your using for your nests and where did you get them please they look perfect for that. have you got them tied together some way so they dont get knocked down?

  • @gettinready100 They're stacking vege bins which we have screwed to the wall. They DO work really well (and were cheap!)

  • Hey, lookin' good girl! Long time no see:).Snow looks pretty,we rarely get any here, just a dusting or two.Unless its on the mountains. We've had tornado warnings 3 times this winter.I worked outside the past two days in short sleeves .Rosemary & sage have really grown! They look so good.Ordering more seeds here too.Already have onions up(in south window). It's like Christmas, looking through seed catalogs. Planning what will I try this year:)?!Not much knitting here, but ALOT of crocheting.

  • Its really good of you to share your resorces, its a pity there aren't more people like you

    All the very best

  • Enjoyed the update, we sure have had a mixed bagged of weather here in Michigan, I'm enjoying the warmer temps.

  • Hi there, glad to see a video from you and you are looking great! You are so kind to share your garden space w/other people. You do have a handsome rooster! Those Icelandics are pretty. Do you plan on eating the pigs from those breeding two? I was wondering because they look like a small breed. Wouldn't you want a huge hog for meat?

  • sorry to bother you again but where did you buy you vege bins you have in the chicken coop ive been looking for some like them that size and i cant find any. thank you and love your videos and all your information you share.

  • Wow.your're looking fabulous.

  • omg the piggys are darling! and you are not an idiot for talking baby talk to your critters. Anybody that loves their animals does the same thing! So I'm an idiot too!!

  • love the idea of gardening with girl friends........kinda like quilting in the old days. You go pioneer girl. We are getting our pullets in March, I'm so excited!

  • Barred Rocks seem to be a very long lived breed. Your the fourth person I have heard of that has some that over six years old. Sorry you lost two of your younger hens.

As for Lester, after the apocalypse happens their will be two things left on the earth, Cockroaches and.......a peeved off Lester :)
