@lpkev well i agree. not a proven engine. people dont like to work on the engine due to space issues, its why theres very few of these engines making 1000hp. but most likely this Z is making 1000RWHP in under 30 pounds of boost fyi. theres another 300zx on here making 1118RWHP in just 28psi. im not dissing the 2JZ, but the VG30 is not an engine to be messed with either. i dont think people have reached the full potential of these engines.

@atvman1000 Plus the VG engine produces a lot more Torque then other import engines, like the 2JZ.

@bizaws2 the imsa vg30dett powerplant that steve millen drove was putting out 800whp on low boost settings. this was still in the early 90's too, and innovation has come a long way since. It is true that they outlawed the engine for its power. Same exact thing happened when the skyline began racing in the gt series.

@jusclai its a fully built twin turbo vg30dett swap on a 93 n/a vert z32. don't think anyone said it was n/a. there are dyno's of the car found here on youtube.
