Finally someone that represents my view and that of independents! Nathan is the only Republican that has been publicly praised by Marty Block and other Assembly Democrats for his willingness to work through issues and offer bipartisan support during his tenure as an Assemblyman. He also visited my son's elementary school last year and had a genuine conversation with the students about the political process and his involvement in the military. Wish there were more like him. I think Fletcher is probably the best candidate for mayor, but this is a gimmick.

Fletcher is undoubtably a solid mostly conservative Republican.

He left the Republican Party because he lost the endorsement. If he had won the endorsement he would still be identifying as a Republican.

It is to his advantage to be an 'independent' when there are 3 Republicans (including Fletcher) and only 1 Democrat.

As a lifelong Democrat, I can respect this. I need to hear more on his vision for San Diego before I cast my vote, but I like his approach. It's time SOMEBODY put public service over political ideology.
