This foam cutter was made so I could cut some styrofoam for packing the Zefyr scooter. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czp_1Kd5vVI) The wire is about 32" long, the frame will swing for angle cuts and is removable from the table. Power is a 12v automotive battery. The heat is controlled by moving the jumper cable up or down on the nichrome wire. The table has a phenolic top and is 4' x 8' (I made this some time ago from 1/2" thick material). The fence is just clamped to the table top since I don't intend on using this all that often. I sprinkled glass sandblasting beads on the table for easy sliding of a 3/4" sheet of melamine coated particle board if I want to position the part on that..... mostly used when squaring up a piece of rough foam.
