  • I have to disagree with this review. The game has a very smooth progression in difficulty. The difficulty you are asking for at the end of the game would probably make this title less accessible for younger gamers.

I doubt that everyone's dreams look the same. To some people this will look dream-like, others won't recognize it as such.

The postcards reveal the relationship between the girl and her grandmother.

I like the graphics a lot, too. And who is Chris VanAusberwhatever?

  • i don't care whether or not it's accessible to younger gamers, tbh. the first two levels were boring and it only got fun for me near the end.

of course not everyone's dreams look the same. but i wasn't talking about how the look of the game compares to people's actual dreams! if that were the case, then most DEFINITELY this game fails to be 'dreamlike', cuz not many people dream of caricatures set in a drawn background!! i was merely saying that it didn't seem very dreamlike to me.

  • and yeah, it reveals a bit about the relationship, but i don't think it does all that much. words of encouragements were basically all that were written on those postcards, and i didn't find them to be all that insightful nor revealing beyond conveying a typical grandmother and granddaughter relationship.

chris van allsburg - look him up.

  • Music not even touched on in the review, which is surprising considering it is a top notch review otherwise. I agree with most of what you say, however the story touched me deeply and the music has stayed with me since. Perhaps a sleeper hit as I don't feel it will have mass appeal. If you are willing to forgive some of the frustration and shortcomings of the gameplay, the dreamlike graphics, enchanting music and heartbreaking story more than make up for it. Great review, but a tad harsh.

  • yeah, i'm not that good at reviewing graphics and sound and music. i did overlook the music entirely, so that's a valid criticism. i didn't think much of the story personally, but you're not the only one to mention that the story is touching. as for the graphics, i didn't feel like they were all that dreamlike; the style is certainly nice though.

yeah, my review was mainly on gameplay and admittedly a bit harsh for that reason.

thanks for the comment and constructive criticism.

  • you forgot to mention indiana jones from lucas arts

  • I want the music!!! GRRRRRRR

  • i for the most part agree with the review, the play, from the demo atleast, felt kinda mindless and stale. on the the flip side though, i think the art and animation, while not extremely imaginative is extremely well done for what it is. i'm sort of tempted to drop down the ten dollars just to show my support for non mainstream games like this,

  • and another thing - the postcards are signed 'nana', which seems to be a strange spelling. so maybe she's not even the grandmother!! either way, your point is moot, since i assumed it was her grandmother (based on her old appearance and that she addressed her self as 'nana'). it's just that i never called my grandmother 'nanna', and it's not a term that you learn in school; you mostly learn it functionally, and i got the terms 'nanna' and 'nanny' mixed up. sue me.

  • alright, you pointed out one mistake i made, in looking back at my video: i said nanny, but i actually meant to say nanna (english isn't my first language!). but i knew she was her grandmother, and it still doesn't make the story any better and my point that the postcards don't drive the story forward as it could have still stands, imo.
