Maybe the most beautiful of all solo works ever written for violin, this has always been an obvious choice for an encore at any performance.

I was shocked to find out how difficult this recording is to get and its so so good. Mr Ehnes is well in position to becoming the best violinist since Rabin eclipsing Perlman, Mintz, Zukerman, Kavakos, Kaler, Repin, and anyone else you could possibly think of. I have said this before and Ill say it again anyone who plays Bach and Paganini like this deserves to be heard. Do yourself a big favor and get every recording you can by him.

I have uploaded rare out of print and unreleased recordings that are difficult to find, I hope you like them.

Since they are so difficult to find no one should mind me uploading them, if you have issues with me uploading them please send me a message and I will remove them.

  • thank you for this beautiful recording. James ehnes rocks

  • @rareviolintreasures thank you for the amazing collection of violin music. James Ehnes is no doubt the best violinist on the planet at this time. In a dvd called "homage" he showcases the very best violins in existance. A history of each violin and the most amazing view as well as interviews with James and DR. Fulton who owns this priceless collection of strads and guars and shared their beauty and sound with us all.each one has a different voice and James makes each one sing like an angel

  • An outstanding performance - a beautifully articulated, clean sound, reminiscent of Bach greats like Grumiaux. There are elements of Rabin as well, I agree. I heard Ehnes as a very young man years ago, and it was clear then he would go far, but this outstrips expectations. Wonderful deep musicianship!

  • It could be the recording -but this is as pedestrian as one

could get -no colour to the sound -just bland one tone.

That he can play it is a given -but that's all/

  • he has a very pure tone :D

  • haha nice

  • in some ways he is maybe better than him!!

  • He is brilliant!! I had the envious opportunity to study violin at the same time while growing up with him when he was ages 4 thru 10. He was brilliant then as well.

  • He must be proud of making such a recording as this.
