I have a bad habit of recording pieces the minute I've learned the notes (and little else) but who cares.....

An EPIC FAIL recording of my favourite Rach concerto....... far short of where I want it to be, but give me some time (have 2 full-time jobs!)... it will get there eventually!

  • is that a clavinova? would you recommend the purchase of one if i'm practicing for my exams?

  • @cmednc Hi cmednc, yes that's a Clavinova (a CLP-509 to be specific). Highly recommended. I've tried all the Yamaha, Roland, Casio, Korg offerings and for acoustic realism (touch and sound), nothing came close to the Yamaha CVP and CLP series (esp the ones with "graded hammers"). Unless your exam is a licentiate/performers diploma on a concert grand, I don't think it's an issue at all to practice on them. Love your work.... good luck on the exam!

  • Brilliant!

  • @gemcnulty Thanks gemcnulty :)

  • you're just looking for a compliment by calling this a fail. and i'll give one to you.. that is superb!

  • @jamesdahertheiii ......haha .... yes, I'm def guilty of exaggerating the fail-ness but you'll have to trust me when I say the recording is half-baked...... i can play much it better .... in line with snooty grey-poupon classical standards.... and I'll upload something someday soon to appease those bastards. I'm glad you enjoyed this ... thanks alot for posting. - rob

  • sounds fantastic

  • @R1skArb I just went to the piano store to try some out and ended up buying (without intending to purchace anything!) a roland lx10f. It was amazing. I went from piano to the roland and to back to piano to compare the touch and the only downside was that the glissando on the roland wasn't fabulous, but other than that I could barely tell the difference. And i got $500 off even though it was already on sale. Win. In other news I am now poor. lol.

  • @R1skArb i have a piano as well but i need something to practise on at any time of day. Clavinovas are very expensive though :( I have a roland fp5 at the moment, i love the sound but the keys are just too light for the music i'm doing now.

  • @MegaPetrof - hey MegaPetrof, glad you liked it! I'll be sure to send you more FAIL videos..... in fact, most of my videos end up as fails! all the best
