This video tutorial is a quick overview of my five favorite new features in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 for the professional photographer. This video highlights: improvements to the import dialog, the new IPTC Extension metadata fields, the improved sharpening and noise reduction algorithms, and the incredible new lens correction tool. The video concludes with a quick demo of the new Publish Services feature. Learn more at http://www.thelightroomlab.com.

  • great video, the new NR looks amazing, thanks for sharing

  • @CWMphotography You are welcome! Thanks for watching.

  • I can't understand why Adobe didn't include Light Room 3 into the Master Collection of CS5......

Those people using Master Collection are in any instance only using it because their work revolves around photography and creativity..

I've got to go to the shops put down $4,300 for Master Collection then another $500 for light room...

    Just doesn't feel right

  • @bauldrick -- I don't work for Adobe and I have no reason to defend their pricing structure but I believe that the folks at Adobe have left Lightroom, and many of their other programs, out of the CS5 Master Collection because these programs are not for all types of creative artists. Lightroom is for photographers only and is a useless tool for say a video artist. Lots of Adobe's specialized software are not included in the Master Collection for the same reason-- not useful for all types of art.

Just on that note, I'm a digial photographer, do you think I should get Lightroom 3 when I already have Photoshop Extended? The things about noise reduction, lens correction...etc have already been included in the photoshop, but not the fuctions(or I'm not aware of) that enable you to upload and addon the personal details really quickly and easily, but do you think that's worth getting it?

    Thanks

  • @s87343jim Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a workflow tool. Photoshop CS5 is the best program out there for single image enhancement but it does not create a database of your photography like Lightroom. I use Lightroom to find, organize, print, and email my files. I use Photoshop to further enhance the best images and then return to Lightroom for the print / web / email part. There is an article on our Web site with more info on how these two programs play together.

  • @thelightroomlab does this phtoshop have the tool where you can cut people out of the photo. i think it was called the lasso tool in the regular adobe

  • What a fantastic video! Thank you so much for posting. You make Lightroom easy to understand, and hit on exactly the right topics that I was wondering about when I started to consider switching from Photoshop to something else. I'm sold, both on Lightroom and your tutorials. Great job!

  • Adobe always had been a bloodsucker. Its game is coming to the end. Apple, another bloodsucker (that worked together with Adobe) would buy them out.
