This is a PDQ Laserwash 4000. Normally these things just fail by design. Addition of a 2-stage ASSFOAM presoak (base + acid) makes this one actually clean, but it STINKS!

It somehow managed to assfoam me in the face, even though the window and door were closed... I don't know why, but PDQ washes have gotten water into every vehicle I've ever put them through. Ryko high impact washes, despite having water flying at a greater velocity, do not! I'm guessing this is due to atomization of fine droplets? Whatever. I replaced the audio to remove the copious swearing that occurred after getting assfoam to the eyes!

Just for the record, it did get my car clean. It did, however, also high-pressure wax my brake linings, a/c and alternator belts. Squeeeeeeeech...

  • @carwash98 it depends on how well maintained the system is -particularly the air compressor and foaming pads. an air compressor problem will also affect presoak quality and may even cause freezing damage (air is used to purge the lines at the end of the wash program). bad foaming pads are a lot more common. I've read all you have to do is open the applicators and stuff them with new scotch-brite pads or plastic pot scourers. got a dollar store nearby? :)

  • I dunno. The foam does come out in a curious manner, but it does cover the car completely. I've noticed this on a number of Laser 4000 machines, actually. It might just be that the air pressure is a bit low?

  • I went through a Mark VII Aquajet w/ Turtle Wax products at a Hess Station (now a Cigto) & the water smelled like poop! Then I went through an Aquajet at a Mobil Station in Lake Mary & the Clearcoat smelled like ham!

  • I agree 4000s are crap. Also, they seem unsafe because of the HUGE wires on the sides.

  • Is it me or do all laserwash 4000s apply an uneven amount of triple foam?

  • That's a Mobil car wash.

  • The majority of problems with these machines come from poor maintenance. They do a very good job if they are set up and maintained properly.

  • Speaking of fail, there is one close to me which was still in operation despite having VERY serious problems. For one thing, the swivel which connects the arch hose on the ceiling was cracked and was spilling water all over the place, resulting in greatly reduced pressure. This also killed the presoak and spot-free rinse. And the dry foam nozzles were iced over!

  • @hyvahyva thats probably because it has a sta rite pump vs a pro con to deliver the soap. They are becoming more and more popular on 4000's because people are sick of changing procons.

  • looks like the nozzles are messed up at 0:10

  • @carwashpdq At the time I made this video, this machine did kind of suck. The nozzles were messed up. It's been fixed up since and works great. I used it to clean up after trying to use a Ryko Softgloss XS that got completely stuck behind my car and shot it out of the wash bay!! There's an error code in the Ryko software for "Front arms behind vehicle" -- it was so messed up it didn't recognize that condition, and just poured on the motor current... POOT!
