Jay Leno brought attention to the Chanticleer's famed male sopranos, inserting himself -- tails and all -- into a Today show clip from our 12/4/2009 appearance. You can see Jay's monologue here:

Well, we decided to record a little response.

Merry Christmas, Jay!

  • @Maestro2500 That's my favorite part!

  • Dear @donaldrose,

It doesn't matter what voice you use to access the part, (which I can assure you, these men are not solely using falsetto. ohmahgawd huge can of worms that I don't even wanna get into) just as long as the notes are there. The soprano section of Chanticleer are true sopranos. Their range is not equivalent to contraltos---sure they could sing contralto, but they sing soprano. obvi.

    P.S. - Keep getting lessons.

  • @donaldrose as one of the men in the video who "cannot sing Soprano", I beg to differ. Obviously, I can, because, as you saw, I did.

What you're arguing is nomenclature, and it's a problem with non-traditional male voices. Soprano refers to a range--NOT a clef. The details upon which you have focused are not only completely misguided, but actually laughable. Do everyone a favor and keep this to yourself next time you feel the need to edify anyone with this drivel.

    HERE endeth the lesson.

  • WTF? Bass with mustache hits A1 on last chord!!!!!! AWESOME
