View of traffic at the intersection of El Camino Real and Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto, CA. This intersection serves as one of the main entrances to Stanford University, the Town and Country Shopping Center, and Palo Alto High School.

The 15-year history of traffic accidents at this intersection shows that there were 60 accidents with a 15-year average of 4.0 a year. The last 5-year total accident count was: 16, yielding an average of: 3.2 a year--making this the 4th most dangerous intersection in Palo Alto, CA.

The most dangerous intersection (by accident count) is that of Middlefield Road and Hamilton Avenue on the eastern end of the downtown business district:

  • I did take some "footage" of the bike lane not existing for the first 100 feet or so on the Palo Alto HS side of Embarcadero Road. Will post it in due time.

    As to the video being "biased" .. it is my right as an American Citizen to "call 'em like I see 'em'. You have every right to go out there an cut your own videos.

    Note .. I didn't see the car running the stop light (meaning I didn't notice it). I will watch the video again. Hard to see everything.

  • Nice biased commentary. That is, no comment from Mr. Martin when a car ran the stop light in the first 10 seconds of the video. However, at 2:38 he does comment on the "myth" of bicyclists being in danger in this town. I had watched the video hoping that he was going to comment on the danger to bicyclists due to the disappearing bike lane. It exists on Stanford, Galvez St., but is nonexistent on Embarcadero Rd.
