It's no fluke that the 1911 style of handgun is still popular more than 100 yrs after its inception. Designed by firearms design genius John Moses Browning, the 1911 was ground breaking in its capabilities: it was accurate, reliable, durable, and hit hard in its .45 ACP chambering. It quickly acquired a loyal following as it fought in both World Wars, Korea, and even Vietnam with distinction. And that reputation with these returned servicemen continued on into their civilian lives when they sought to acquire their own 1911s. In this video however, I concentrate on the Philosophy of Use or POU for the type and address the design's capabilities when evaluated for role. POUs including the Go to War Gun (GTWG), Home Defense, Competition and Recreation, Concealed Carry, and "Addiction" handgun are discussed in detail with pros and cons identified. Steel framed 1911s predominate the market but are heavy for their limited magazine capacity (single stack versions). But for absolute durability, quicker shot recovery, less fatigue in extended shooting, and gunsmithing capes, the steel framed versions remain popular. Depending on POU, they are appropriated and preferred. AS a GTWG, I prefer that aluminum or Scandium framed 1911s (and in the other POUs as well). Training with the type is mandatory and the 1911 with its manual safety offers some chances for mistakes when under stress. Size and weight and firepower considerations for the 1911 are addressed. These subject matter generally covers the first three Talking Points (TPs) of a Nutnfancy tabletop handgun review and will save me time as a referenceable, foundational video. Some consider the 1911 to be John Browning's greatest design. When taken into context of the historically significant M1919 and M1917 .30 cal and M2 .50 cal machine guns and the BAR, that of course is debatable. But the fact that the 1911 even against simpler, more modern designs is still soldiering on with great effect is a testament to its design excellence.//////////////////////// Music licensed from TNPr Dudio at www.youtube.com/eldudio

Nutn is retired from serving in the U.S. Air Force. As for currently, it's unknown to me where he generates income other than TNP. As for your attacks on him, you may want to take a look at how you're acting. I will not say you suck, because there's no need for me to start anything with you, but I will say, "act like an adult."

  • Want to bring up a point on firepower. I live in a state that has (unwisely) limited law-abiding citizens to 10 round mags. I agree with the more ammo is better philosophy and I know that the bad guys will not comply with the 10 round restriction but it kind of negates a big part of the advantage the polymer pistols have. Just a point to make when discussing firepower: what does your state allow? Personally, I carry a subcompact, steel framed 1911 for ccw and I carry everywhere I legally can.

  • hey, what are your thoughts for a rock island 1911 (ik they are really cheap, but are they good?)

  • I wanna get a 1911 for everything. Home defense, conceal carry, and side-arm. For home defense I primarily have my Shotgun, which i wanna put a Flash-light on. For conceal carry I'll switch between 1911 and SM Sigma 9mm depending on what I'm gonna do that day. And for a war?, tactical SGL-21 as primary.

  • i like some of his vids but just run too long. if i only could have one hand gun it would be a steel 1911 because it can be repaired almost no matter what.

  • I like my steel frame 1911 everyday IWB or open carry. I have used a khar cw40, khar cm9, glock, sig, keltech you name it I have tryed it out, I am a slim guy at 6'2" 180lbs but I prefer to carry my 1911 and have for 5 years now when in my civilian life. I will NOT carry a light pistol everyday, I just dont like it, I dont want to forget its there, I want to know its there all the time. I never have any issue with it and its good and comfortable.

  • I hear alot of crap talk about the 1911 man, mostly from faggy glock fan boys who think glock is just the best thing out there. I hear shit like "You cant hit shit with a 1911...what a pile of shit".....REALLY!?!? are you blind as well as paralysed?

  • M1911 is my favorite pistol especially the MEU SOC version 2nd place goes to the Glock 17

  • (36:40) Shooters Gold, love it

  • no colts?

  • I think discussing which gun is better in one situation is pointless. It all comes down to personal preference. Some people choose a 1911 over a Glock because they like how it feels and it shoots better for them. I hate it when people get a handgun and they really like it so they think any other model is crap and you're an idiot for carrying it, not that I think nutn' does that in this video.

  • "Why aim better when you can just shoot MORE bullets!" Haha Like the video. Good to see someone who's informed yet will flat out say 'I don't know everyhing/ I am not an expert."
