I wrote this song as a tribute to Tony Cliff and Geroge Petersen one year after their deaths in 2000. Both men in their own way did more than their share in the struggle for socialism. As it turns out, this song may as well have be called "Ballard of the twentith century!"
I remember George Peterson - he supported so many radical movements as a parliamentarian - I first met him during the High school student strikes in Sydney 1972-73. I last saw him in a wheelchair being honoured at the 1999 Australian Labour History Conference in Wollongong. He was a man of integrity who dedicated his life to the principles of humanism, natural justice and socialism. Great song! Thankyou.
Great reuse of my photos :)
