  • The problem with this movie was that it was just too historically accurate.Islam was in its purest form back then unlike now when islam has fanatics as its representatives, and Salahuddin Ayyubi was one of the greatest warriors of islam, he indeed was a great humanitarian by the standards of those times, and this fact was just too much 4 the critics to digest, and they just lambasted this movie..The performances and the battle scenes alone make this movie as great as the gladiator if not better

  • this is the best film ever

  • Saladin was a great leader and destroyed various crusade leaders he had respect for others and if was alive today would restore control to all Arab nations

  • " come on " its just a movie for enterteiment doesnt matter if its right or not historically, enjoy cinema people its just fantasy and fun ;-)

  • @majesticmaniac do you mean accurate or inaccurate? Because i found it inaccurate. For example the siege scene, how many catapults does saladin have? it must have been around 100, and in does times at sieges there was a max of 25, as your army would move to slow with to much siege equiptment. Also, when the crusaders captured Jerusalem in 1099 they killed every muslim inside. In 1187 Saladin recaptured Jersulem, but let every christian inside alive, in the film they clame he will do different.

  • a good movie. Nothing awesome

  • i think saladin should have been the hero instead of the crusader guy, i loved the part when orlando bloom asks 'what is jerusalem worth to you' and he replied 'nothing, everything'

  • There is hardly anything accurate about the film. Neither Saladin nor Baldwin were tolerant rulers that were interested in establishing peace. Saladin was a ruthless, sadistic conqueror whose ultimate goal was to capture Jerusalem and massacre all of its Christian inhabitants. His own biographer describes him as being full of joy as he observed the decapitation of hundreds of Christians in 1187. To portray this type of ruler in a positive light is to engage in revisionist history.

  • @astronomer747....Look my friend..It was no documentary...but the reason behind most of the criticism was that muslims were portrayed in a slightly positive light..which was just too much for " Jew " hollywood to digest...

  • The film is definitely not historically accurate. The response to it among historians was universally negative. The film's depiction of relations between Christians and Muslims in Jerusalem prior to the ascension of Guy de Lusignan as King-Consort is completely fictitious. There is a whole host of historical inaccuracies and anachronisms in the film that are not trivial, and the film is more like a mix of 19th century Romanticism and Hollywood wishful thinking than serious history.

  • @iamsototallythebomb Lol not a single one...

  • @majesticmaniac Some things were fictions, for example the protagonist did not exist and it doesn't take 12 hours for a city's wall to break after getting bombed by catapults.

But other than that, yes, the movie was pretty accurate.
