5/20 雑木林でコナラの枝に居ました。カバエダシャクの中齢幼虫かもしれないと教えて頂きました。

Geometrid caterpillar (Colotois pennaria ussuriensis?) found on an oak tree (Quercus serrata) on mid-May, 2007 in Japan. At first it mimicked a twig. When its cover was blown, it was on the run by inching.

  • I love inch worms. I think it's cute how they flex their back up then just.. move along.

  • ditto! they have less appendages.

in my opinion, the measuring locomotion is one of the greatest inventions in the evolution of life.

looks like very sophisticated, efficient and beautiful.

(my another favourite is the locomotion of a sidewinder.)
