Surely you didn't see Paul Hamm perform at the 2008 Tyson American Cup. He was flawless. And he was going to compete in the Olympics at Beijing (I'm pretty sure he would have medaled at the All-Around too) but injury kept him from competing. And so he had to retire. But he did stick around.

I agree that he's still amazing these days, in fact, I think the fact that he's been around for so long makes it really awesome to see how he's kept his standards at this level all this time. Remember before Athens there was all the talk of Yang Wei vs Hamm. Yang Wei failed to perform and Hamm did, but like Carly, Hamm's was a flash performance and he's disappeared from the international arena. Yang deserves respect for sticking around! =)
