These holiday makers heard about Moko via TV when he saved a pygmy whale and her calf and they decided, if they ever came to NZ they would come to Mahia to see if he still lived here.
They came for a picnic hoping to see Moko and stayed to play for a while. Moko was his usual friendly self.
Please remember he is a wild mammal and whenever you venture into his environment please treat him with great respect and don't go out beyond waste deep in the water or he may try to keep you there and you will get tired and cold. The sea is his home not ours. Never swim with him on your own, having 2 people there means you have a way of leaving the water when you want, as its harder for him to herd 2 people than 1.
Play by all means but don't get out too far or try to follow him into deep water as he will want you to stay out there.

  • moko died too much heroine

  • I just pray for Moko so he can stay there forever and none can hurt with with any excuse. He is just, as you say, a wild dolphin, so he surely don't know what a limit can be, he just plays with people. So I relly pray for him so none can do anything that could hurt him. That is his home, and it should stay like that, also with all the animals at the sea. And if they are in a delimited location as a aquarium I hope that they are treat ok.
