02L - Il Macellaio

IL MACELLAIO comes out from the cd-rom "the Slicer" ( Tangible Interface Laboratory - Bauhaus Universitaet Weimar ) We are always on the mix dimension, but this time industrial machines are used as musical instruments: that give the techno-noise time to the food instruments, placed in a tecno-industrial werkstatte kitchen. The concept is related to the cyber-gastronomy experience. The cd-rom is a folkloristic project about one optical machine that makes lens for glass in a factory at Dusseldorf. The cd-rom sounds like a joke to this firma, because they spent a lot of money for the design of this machine, (made by Porsche), The optical-machine seems to be like a comical coffeepot, that leeds to an ugly design. Those things maked us laugh, afterward we seriously thought to project for the laboratory course a Slicer Machine for the ham cutting, inspirated from the rude and violent behaviour of a butcher.
