To those of you who watched both shows you KNOW the species 8472 were just copies of bio-technology aliens from B5, same time that DS9 started with huge fleet stories and epic battles because B5 had pushed that envelope. Trek followed the trend B5 began.

Yeah, I'm pretty intrigued to know the backstory to that alliance myself!

BTW, given that Klingon ships are pretty crappy and their one main advantage is that they can cloak, it woulda been nice to see them use that...

@Bronasaxon Also, I guess Species 8472 and the Dominion badmouthed Lorien (the first one) who BOTH the Vorlons AND the Shadows revere and listen to or worse yet, harmed him and now they're putting aside their differences to wipe out the guilty party. It's like if two brothers who fight all the time team up to go after someone who hurt their mother and/or father figure.

@Bronasaxon Beats me but I'm glad they did! Hearing the Shadow Vessels cries as they emerged with the Babylon 5 season 4 theme music playing made me think "Yeah! The Shadows are on the side of good now!". It's the equivalent of the Cardassians from DS9 switching sides and joining up with the Federation and its allies in the final battle of the Dominion War!

It kicked ass to see the Whitestars, Shadow Vessels AND Vorlon ships fighting together on the same side, the first time ever!

This of course would only happen on B5 if the Thirdspace aliens showed up during the Shadow War, THAT would have been interesting to see, the Army of Light (who controls the White Stars), the Vorlons AND the Shadows putting aside their differences to take down an enemy that threatened them all.

I must admit, my only complaint is that we didn't get to see the Shadows do more; seemed like it was mostly the Vorlons.

@woofdogmeow Hmmm... it depends. Vorlon and Shadow technologies were absolutely destructive.

Of course, it is hard to compare two fictional universes, but logic says that any of the first races would crush Star Trek ships as if they were made of paper, regardless of shields (normal Star Trek weapons quickly take care of Star Trek shields, so stronger weapons would probably bypass them with ease).

The older races in Star Trek are usually invincible, so Vorlons and Shadows would be such vs. ST.
