@SolomonKLL Resting your thumb on the (neck, if available) pickup is the suggested method by many bassists such as Billy Sheehan, Steve Rodby, and Gerald Veasley.

When I was taking lessons, my bass teacher taught me a method of plucking where the thumb rests over top of the strings when you are playing rather than on the pick up. Have you ever done that before? I find it makes it much easier to mute unwanted strings.

@sammysosa2454 I do sometimes yes, though I find it easier to mute the strings with my left hand, plus I get more support using my pickup :) Good advice though - I taught myself so my technique is probably all 'wrong'!

You did great !!! but maybe your tone will be better if you didn't rest your thumb on the pick up.

@SolomonKLL It makes no difference :P All that makes a difference is where my fingers actually are along the strings :)
