Example of combination of factors leading to a hard landing. At the threshold of 26 there is normally a downdraft just prior to the threshold because of the sloping terrain. This combined with too little power lead to a steep approach with no power. Completing the factors was a premature round out to landing resulting in a too high stall to the runway with a rebound bounce into the air again.

To correct this condition there should have been more power on final and a more gradual round out closer to the runway surface.............................

  • just started my training there, its a nice airport for gen. aviation and training

  • respect the threshold : P

  • I think i saw you come in on this landing. I was over by the airport that day. Ive landed a piper warrior and we bounced right on the threshold. good job though

  • That wasn't that bad of a landing.

I did my first solo on Rnwy 26 at DXR. And I got my license while flying at Ct. Air Service back in 1988.

    Beautiful airport at night, too.

I also remember doing touch and goes at night and the tower telling me to watch out of deer. As I was about 50' in the air and half way down the runway I notice a small herd of deer underneath me. That was close.
