Iraq's awakening councils have been credited with the improved security in some neighbourhoods. The Iraqi government however is wary of supporting the local volunteer groups. Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel Hamid reports on the role they are playing.

Yes why not, our freedom fighter have defeated monghul, roman empire, persian empire, and Soviet empire. The next is in the process. You're the one who came to iraq & afghanistan none of iraqis or afghans involved in 911. "Hiding", infact all ordinary iraqi are happy to see americans and its allies to leave their country. There're waiting for that and at the same time they're helping them, and their prayers (doa) is the weakest innitiatives.

the sunnis realize they can either ally with al queda and get crushed by the Iran backed shia malitias or ally with US and regain their post-invasion power. i think the US have given up trying to get the shia's to distance themselves from Iran.

What are you talking about? They do reports on Taiwan, Korea and other Asian countries all the time. If by "Asian" you mean Chinese, come on. The Chinese are NOT the only Asian culture out there. Besides China is a communist country! Do you really think they would allow Al Jazeera to go snooping around asking questions in China? The Chinese Government does NOT want the world to see what's really going on in China.
