Crabtree Valley is home to some of the biggest and oldest trees in Oregon as well as the biggest salamanders in the world! This guy blended in so well, we almost stepped right on top of him. Lucky for us (and for him) we didn't and instead got to see this amazing animal hang out right in front of us. The Crabtree area is under threat in the BLM's new WOPR forest plan.

  • How many inches is that animal ?

  • It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the body was about 6-8 inches long with another 5-7 for the tail.

  • does anyone know where i can find a sound clip of a CHINESE giant salamender crying or barking?

  • @skatertechdeck That's not true. The Giant Japanese Salamander is the largest amphibian in the world, and it has only be documented to 5ft, which is one that is in captivity in a zoo or aquarium.

  • @nikemebaby "OMG!! ITS SO HUGE!!" that's what she said :L

  • these things are no joke. They can actually deliver a painful bite. You wouldnt expect that from an amphibian.

  • OMG!! ITS SO HUGE!!

i have a big one in my house...:s haahha!

but its whitee!! its creepy!!!!! xD

  • but just assuming i DIDNT have that stuff (which i of course dont) it would die in a few days

  • @GeorgieZillaFan If you knew what you were doing and spent a lot of time and effort maintaining a terrarium I bet not only you could get them to thrive but I bet you could get them to breed...........not everyone has that kind of talent, patience, and money however. Some really good ultraviolet lights. Some misting, the right vegetation (i'm thinking sphagnum moss) Some pieces of walnut bark to keep the fungus down. And then the diet. Some really healthy night crawlers and other stuff.

  • cool!!!!!! i like it....

  • no u'd never be able to keep it, it would die

  • largest salamander is chinese cavern salamander reachering to a staggering 6 ft long
