Science is the study of man known to be true therefore science is based on fact. Belief is holding an opinion that something is true. Faith is belief without evidence. Christianity is based on faith therefore Christianity is based on no evidence at all. If science were based on faith we would still be swinging from the trees and flinging our excrement.

Parents of every religion should embrace that their child learn what the religions of others say. They don't because they are afraid they will not believe in the parent's religion anymore. It's also enrichment to learn Scientific theories like Evolution or Gravity even if you don't believe in either one so that you can be informed enough to reject them after you know what they are. The biggest differences is Science teaches and Religion only preaches.

Oh, by the way, if "everybody" followed the teachings of anyone or anything else we'd have peace on earth, and there are a myriad of other books and philosophers that said "love your brother and be nice". that's a complete red herring. If everybody followed the teachings of Joseph Stalin there would be peace on earth and we'd all be comrades. It lends absolutely no credence to any idea or set of ideas.

How many times is Dawkins going to go on this show? It isn't working. Every time I see Dawkins on the O'Reilly Factor, he needs to dumb it down (really dumb it down) and add some better arguments. "I want to fill the gap!", ok, lets just drop every possibility in there then- abiogenesis, the clay theory, aliens, supernatural beings, a computer. Religion doesn't cause world peace- look at Christian sex abuse cases. People don't need religion telling them what to do.

This reminded me of something I wrote a few days ago: Basically, you say that you name a being god, you say he's immaterial and eternal, so you tailor him to your void. It's like me imagining a husband for myself to fill that void. Or an imaginary friend. I think Hitchens says "the imaginary sky daddy".
