Shame of Nations (Schapelle Corby)

Schapelle Corby is an innocent: a human rights abuse victim who has suffered years of imprisonment in an Indonesian prison cell, and continues to do so. This musical story outlines the main facts of the case, via a conversation between Barack Obama and Gordon Brown. The script is provided below.

BO: Hello. I am Barack Obama

GB: And I am Gordon Brown.

BO: We are going to tell you the true story of Schapelle Corby.

BO: The innocent victim of corruption and politics.

GB: October 2004.

GB: Corruption in Indonesia is endemic.

GB: War on drugs funding is attractive.

BO: Schapelle lands for a holiday in Bali. She is terrified to find some marijuana in her bag. She is arrested and illegally interrogated for 9 hours.

GB: They refuse to weigh her luggage. If it was heavier than in Australia, they would be forced to release her. They simply refuse to weigh it.

BO: The value of drugs in Indonesia is much lower than in Australia. There is no motive.

GB: And then the terrible show trial. The judge had never acquitted anyone in over 500 cases.

BO: They REFUSED to test the marijuana for country of origin. If it was Indonesian, she must be acquitted and freed.

GB: They REFUSED to check the drugs for fingerprints or DNA.

BO: They BURNED the evidence so that it can never be used to free her. They burned the evidence with her begging them not to.

GB: They talked about sending a warning to other Australians, a clear political intervention.

BO: They refused to retrieve the CC TV tapes from the airport.

GB: They refused to let her cross examine or question customs officers.

BO: Schapelle didn't have a chance. She simply didn't have a trial.

GB: They sentenced her to a barbaric 20 YEARS in the living hell of an Indonesian prison cell. More than murderers, terrorists and rapists. A clear political sentence. A systematic abuse of human rights.

BO: They condemned her to miss the best years of her life. To never have kids.

GB: To never see them play, and to possibly die there.

BO: She is still there today.



GB: But back in Australia.

BO: The Australian Government value their strategic relationship with Indonesia more than Schapelle Corby. The bottom line. The Australian Government sold Schapelle Corby's human rights for political expediency.

GB: They chose appeasement. They chose politics ahead of people.

BO: They turned a blind eye.

GB: Schapelle Corby is a working class girl, and not one of the establishments.

BO: She is despensible to them.

GB: They simply used the organs of state, and sections of the media, to subdue public opinion. The state owned ABC network orchestrated it.

BO: Little by little.

GB: Bit by bit.

BO: They have simply abandoned her.



GB: After all these years she is still there. Alone. And struggling to survive.

BO: Schapelle Corby needs real people like you to speak for her. Schapelle Corby needs you.

GB: Please help free Schapelle. Please don't walk away.

BO: Please help free Schapelle Corby now.

GB: Schapelle is only just hanging on. Please help her....

Excellent video ..It's a great way to get the point across that I felt the first time I watched the documentary on HBO Ganja Queen..I've read 3 books so far on this&the hellhole she struggles daily 2 survive..a cell in the US or Australia would be like a room at a Hilton Hotel..or The Savoy..Great Video thanks for posting it.

An excellent video which says it all. What has happened to Schapelle is beyond belief. The way that the truth has been hidden from the Australian people by their own government is both scandalous and criminal. Hopefully, one day soon, the Australian people will be awakened from their lies and innuendo induced slumber, and the truth will set Schapelle Corby free.
