From the Pilot to the Last Episode here are most of the open and closing theme variations from the 1977-1981 ABC TV series "Eight Is Enough". I didn't include the short edited for syndication versions. These are all the original length versions that managed to slip through in syndication.

  • Amazon shows a release date for Complete Season #1 on DVD to be April 17 , 2012 !!!

  • @Gstru55 Awesome!! Thanks for letting me know!! It is about time!!

  • First intro: Pilot (closing credits inexplicably have the 1978 Lorimar logo)

Second intro: Spring 1977 (Fred Werner's title theme would be replaced, beginning with the 1978-1979 season, by Lee Holdridge's theme, with a disco vibe, sung by Grant Goodeve; from 1979-1981 the opening theme was one half-step higher in pitch)

Third intro: 1979-1980 (credits feature period-correct Lorimar logo)

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X Thanks for the great info!! I appreciate you taking the time to leave me this comment!! Thanks again !

Of course, we want to see this series released on DVD. Trouble is, WB must negotiate with whoever had come up with this series in the first place.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X It would be nice to have Eight Is Enough on DVD but I have just about given up on it happening. Maybe M.E. TV will pick it up soon and we can make our own! MeTV is great, have you seen what all they have ?

  • How can they ignore the obvious popularity of this Classic ? It will come to DVD - sooner than later ! ( hopefully )

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X They can't, as they bought out Lorimar Television in 1993.

Best you can do at this moment is to vote on it at TVShowsonDVD.
