Karen Traviss Video Response

A response to Rob's comments about Karen Traviss.

I am on the opposite side of the Traviss debate, I personally am glad she is gone because of her treatment of Star Wars fans and extremely poor characterization of established characters.

@henrywalsh I don't believe she had an inability to work within an established universe. If that was the case, she wouldn't been hired in the first place. Wasn't the whole problem that the "established universe" changed from under her feet? She refused to go back "fix" her work. You complain that she's acting like a child for attention and that she had no right to do what she was doing. AGAIN, just because someone doesn't write the way you want, doesn't make them a terrible writer.

She had no problem with changing other people's universe. She killed Mara Jade while she KNEW Timothy Zahn was working on a new book for her without her telling him. She changed continuity about Mandalorians without permission from Lucas Arts. She changed continuity regarding Jaina solo without a problem.

If she is willing to stomp on other people's work then she has no right to whine when her own work gets similar treatment.

@crt147 It's one thing to make stories that aren't about the Jedi, that's perfectly fine and I support it all the way, but trying to undermine the film sagas and paint the Jedi as flat out evil while wanking to the mandos is just an affront to the franchise. I enjoy the idea of having things from the troops perspectives, getting down and gritty and all that, but don't try to rewrite the saga.

So what man. Its a story. She made valid arguments that everybody just passed over. the mandalorians deserve their own story. I personally love the jedi not mando. this makes me hate people like you. I was getting disgusted with the star wars books until her legacy of the force. the story was bogged down and lost even if it still had continuity. The vong armor was stupid and ridiculous. she writes dam good books and gets interest for star wars so shut the hell up

You are an idiot.

A) Jedi kill. All the time actually. The Jedi code does not prevent a Jedi from killing. Luke killed a lot of people when he blew up the Death Star. Mace Windu killed Jango Fett. Obiwan Kenobi killed Grevious. Yoda killed a number of clone troopers.

B) Uhm... This is incorrect. Luke, in Karen's mind, thought that learning to kill from Boba was a great idea. If the Dark Side was the case then Luke wouldn't have said that.

C) Not really. Fett was tacked on.

@henrywalsh Also Jaina couldn't go to Luke to learn how to kill Caedeus because

A. He's a Jedi. Jedi don't kill. They defend themselves. The only way they kill someone is if they deflect a blaster bolt back at them or they are in a duel and the attacker forces them. Attacking leads to the Darkside. Genius.

B. Jaina is a Jedi. She can't go to Luke cuz he will say he can't teach her because it might lead her to the Dark Side...which is bad.

C. Caedus lost to Luke before. You'd think he'd train

No. No you aren't. You are making excuses for Karen Traviss, which isn't something a real Star Wars fan would do. You know the vast majority of Star Wars fans were asking "for years" for Traviss to be released because of her immature behavior and her Fandalorian fanaticism.
