  • Daneshmand! That "bani Adam" poem is a translation of a saying by prophet Muhammad.

  • Ayatollah Archimetaus! Where have Prophet Muhammad have said the "bani Adam" poet? If in Koran, then exactly were, and if any where else, then exactly where?

  • Absolutely! Let's just say he was Sa'adi, with all his background, part of which we know (like his nationality an religion) and most of which we don't (like his inherited characteristics, his education, his friends and family, etc.) It's very unfair and uncivilised to judge his isolated sentences and verses and label the guy based on our limited knowledge about him.

"Our job is not to decode the mystery of the red rose.

Our job may just be to float in the magic of the red rose."

Thank u very much for ur answeres azizam! I totally agree that people can say and act in the name of a religion! I was not arguing against that! But u have to know that prophet zoroaster and the Iranian culture included a lot of humane behavior and attitude! So it is not just Islam, it is DIFINITELY our culture too that creates such poets and thinkers for our society!

  • ...But I doubt it if Jesus ever ordered the Crusades or the Holocaust or if Moses ever wanted the crusification of Jesus or the massacre of the Palestinians or if Zoroaster ever approved the killing of Mani and Mazdak or if Mohammad ever wanted Sa'adi to call Zoroastrians and Christians the enemies of God. People of religion have a lot to be ashamed of, all religions, including "Anti-clericalism", The religion that our naive "ostad" is paid to promote.

  • And thank you. Well, I don't know your answer frankly. It seems (just seems) like a big part of the traditional way of religious thinking is based on rejecting, (then if you are weak) rediculing and (if you have the power) oppressing other religions... (continued)

I have to tell u that if sadi god this from Prophet Mohammad(p), then he DIFINITELY got the insulting part(where he was insulting jews) from prophet mohammad too! Why believing one part and not the other?! Thanks again azizam!

  • Archimetaus

Thanks brother! Just like I said, I might be mistaking and will be more than happy to be guided! But the million dollar question is "did Mohammad himself ever acted as he said?!" Did he treat everyone the same? I don't know the answer!! Thank u for ur time!

  • I'm sure I clicked on the reply link in front of your name this time 8}

Why doesn't it put it after your comment? I'll never get the hang of this!

  • Whoops! I did it again I guess. It's up there again starting with "You know".

  • You know Sa'adi's Bani Adam poem. Compare it to when Prophet Mohammad talks about:

كالجسد الواحد إذا اشتكي منه عضو تداعي له سائر الجسد بالحمي والسهر

    Meaning:

بسان پيكر واحدي هستند، هرگاه عضوي از آن به درد آيد، تب و بي قراري ساير اعضا را فرا مي گيرد

It's just not a poem, otherwise it's basically word by word what Sa'adi says, or the other way round in fact.

Please don't come back to me with "this is not a translation of that!". It clearly IS.

It's just one example of this guy's ignorance

  • Archimetaus

Actually, the part that saadi is insulting kalimi(jew) and etc, u can say that he got this part from Mohammad! and NOT his other beautiful poem! Right when he got to the religion part, his saying is totally different than the other one(bani adam....)

because he started insulting! If u wanna say that saadi got his "bani adam" part from Mohammad, then u should say that he got the other part from Mohammad too!
