  • I don't recall it being that hard to loosen. Make sure you use the proper tools/right size and you should be fine. If you still have issue you should put a post up on the corvette forum and you should get plenty of tips.

  • nice video! i was wondering if i can use the torque wrench like the one you have in the video to loosen the drain plugs. or would i have to get a 13mm socket wrench? ive noticed in the video you just had a torque wrench, so i was just curious. thanks!

  • @MrVettedude

    Torque wrench works! Good luck.

  • Thanks for posting this. Do you trust the "Engine Oil Life" read out on the dash, or is that thing lying?

  • @Prestostark

I would trust the readout for normal driving. Unless you are doing track events, storing the car in the garage for an extended period of time, then use your own judgement.

  • @805Z06 Is it best to store over the winter with new oil?

  • @Prestostark

There are a lot of Corvette owners in the east coast that would know best. I highly recommend checking out the corvette forum under winter storage tips.

  • was the drain plug hard to loosen when you did your first oil change? im afraid it might be very tight from the factory and that i might strip the bolts. thanks for the info.

  • The only reason i would change my oil is because the people at oil changing stations will screw it up somehow the only way to get something done right is to do it yourself

  • @tripleheshy

Generally, you should be fine with the recommended oil. Just change your oil after one or two events. Otherwise, I would bring this topic up in the corvette forum (racing section) and get some other opinions.
