  • not a close grip in my book, elbows aren't even tucked in

  • @i3obm4l2ley First off you don't have to tuck your elbows for it to be considered a close grip bench if you ask me that's just stupid if you ask me because then the stress if going to be placed more on your shoulders and not as much on your triceps and secondly my hands are shoulder width apart any closer and I am going to injure my wrists which is not a good idea beings I am 12 weeks out from a competition but these are just my opinions.

  • @CodyLentz ok whatever works best for you. i close grip with my grip a lil closer then shoulder width and elbows, but i know one thing that it puts more stress on your triceps if you keep your elbows tucked in, if they are flared out you wil incorporate inner chest more. Im pretty sure this is fact

  • @i3obm4l2ley Well idk if you can tell from the angle but my elbows are slightly tucked I have tucked the same as when I bench with my normal grip to keep the bar moving in the same groove that way it has a better carry over. Like I said this is just my way of doing things I have benched 575 raw in competition so I must be doing something right or I just got blessed with good genetics for pressing.

  • Thanks man.

  • Must get annoying have shirts with only tight sleeves

  • @i3obm4l2ley

A recent study done regarding CGBP by Muscular Development showed that placing your grip closer than shoulder-width produced no more tricep activation than simply using a shoulder-width grip. In my opinion, placing your grip closer than shoulder-width just places extra unnecessary stress on the wrist joint.

Also, let's not question the BP training of someone who will soon be bench pressing 600 lbs.

  • Nice work, Cody. Beastly strong.
