project homepage: http://www.exosphere3d.com/pubwww/pag... This video presents the alternate audio tracks and does so by splitting to L and R channels. The audio presented is: LaGuardia ATCT Cab Coordinator, LaGuardia ATCT South Terminal Control, New York TRACON South Control, and Teterboro ATCT Local Control position

Radar data is displayed in the upper right quadrant with aircraft identification and altitude (100's of feet). The audio transcripts of the aforementioned audio tracks are displayed on screen for nearly all communications from the mentioned audtio recordings. Continuity is maintained with the audio transcript display, however the audible tracks are faded in and out and selected based on perceived importance to the accident timeline.

This combination of information is not a likely candidate for final presentation because of information overload. However, it does illustrate the usefulness and capabilities of a fully integrated reconstruction technique.

Wait could they really see birds on the radar??? Why is there not a system for the control tower to warn planes if they are on a collision course with birds and direct them around the little flying hazards?

Yes you can really see them. watch "qpQ929z3cG4" starting around the 20 second point. Or search for "radar data extraction and visualization", our video detailing the ASR radar data.

At 3:14 you hear someone in the background at Teterboro, maybe a supervisor, saying "Airbus?" and 6 seconds later he says something like "you can't land that aircraft here!"

nice one! for the other viewers, if you are trying to hear this, you are best off with stereo speakers and listening to your right channel only.

From an Air Force perspective: when you are in pilot training the IP (instructor pilot) will say "I have the aircraft," and the trainee says "you have the aircraft." It is a way of making it clear to the pilot and copilot who is currently in control of the plane. In this case, both pilots had flight controls so either could have flown the plane... the "my aircraft" - "your aircraft" is an abbreviated form of that expression and it would have been second nature to the 2 pilots.

LaGuardia: "You're going to need to alert the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Police over there."

    Kennedy: "N-E-W Y-O-R-K and N-E-W J-E-R-S-E-Y port authority."

    LaGuardia: "That's Cactus 1549. 1-5-4-9er."

Kennedy: "One-five-four-niner. And what is this cactus you speak of?"

    LaGuardia: "You're fired."
