Well, I dont really hear you speak Japnaese long enough, but the Daruma character speaks really well. It was like somebody native Japnaese dubbed it.

@daiquirikiss I guess some people can't tell, plus its your hand moving Daruma san. Off the subject, how do you write Daruma san's name in Japanese (Kanji or is it Hiragana)? Also, how do you write KY in Japanese, too. :) Thank you (will upload a video for you of another example of KY). :)

@dragonballz0 daruma I think is usually hiragana, but it has kanji. They just hardly use it I think. 達磨. The first kanji means either "multiples" like 私達 or "to arrive" like 速達便 express delivery. The second one means "improve" and is usually used for "歯磨き" brushing teeth. I always see it in hiragana though. I think it's because the kanji don't really give a "daruma" image. KY is 空気が読めない.

so KY is only the situation of pressing somebody for information that they may not want to give because its socially awkward or embarrassing, right?

I thought it could also mean when for example someone fails to judge the mood or energy levels of the group, for example they are too loud or say inappropriate things... thats not KY is it? Thats just... lameness haha

This KY stuff was pretty interesting. It happens a lot. I hate it when things get to that point at 6:28! IT's like...oh no...I want to be friendly...but what do I do now!....7:35 is very true. Interesting to know how that is in Japanese though.

liked your video. don't want to send this thread in a weird direction but did you know that mokusatstu is kind of a famous word cause the prime minister of japan at the time of the potsdam declaration was said to have taken a stance of mokusatsu...and it is said that because this was translated as contemptuous silence...this enraged the U.S. military and may have provoked the atomic bombings.
