"Sympathy for the Parents" - When Alex's younger brother, Aaron, shows up at Seattle Grace-Mercy West with a hernia, it's up to Alex to get Bailey's approval for his pro bono surgery. Matters are further complicated when Aaron discloses that his family has not heard from Alex since he arrived in Seattle, and parts of Alex's past long kept secret are revealed to his friends and fellow doctors, on Grey's Anatomy, THURSDAY, APRIL 1 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

@Merder14 thatcher had just lost his wife for christ's sake. i don't think we should him from that particular scene. he does love meredith. meredith is constantly awful to him? sure she gave him her kidney but only for lexie. she basically said she could care less if he died.

Alex's father on the other hand was an alcoholic who repeatedly abused his wife.

Can we at least agree that he was a much worse person than thatcher?

Oh, and Meredith seeing her dad wasn't traumatizing? She didn't see her dad for 25 years. He NEVER fought or searched for her. And when she made the effort to mend her relationship with him, she first found out he just got an entire new family and never looked back, and when she actually tried to help his new wife(who died) he freaking slapped her. A man hitting a woman is just pathetic.

@Merder14 what about when she was in Seattle? Meredith completely wrote off her father when it was her mother who left him. Alex has a REAL reason for staying away. His home must remind him of his father and all the things he did to his mother.

She didn't go seven years(and even more) without her dad because she wanted to, did she? Her mom just picked up everything(including Mere, who was just an innocent little girl) and left her dad.
