A composition by myself, consisting of drones, sequencers, mellotrons and pianos, inspired by bands and artists such as Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno and Steven Wilson.

  • One of the best things i've heard in a long time, and definitely captures that old school TD vibe perfectly- excellent work mate.

  • @pyramidion thanks you, i can do much better! im working on loads of material soon- much better quality. I might re-do this track and clean it up a bit. I will let you know when my new tangerine dream esque stuff comes out.

  • Beautiful. Inspiring. What version of Reason has the Mellotron sounds?

  • all of the versions of reason have mellotron samples, but i should go for the latest version. There is also an expansion you can buy or download called 'abbey road's keyboards, which have amazing samples of mellotron. I might do another version of this song, or somemore, with different samples very soon, but yes the latest version of reason has the most variety, including flute, choir and strings- no brass or cello mellotron is included with reasons pre set sounds

  • it was sequenced and then mixed down... the origional is in a bit better quality (when i converted the video i had to reduce the quality). But i played all of it myself except for the programmed sequence parts. It was actually done in a sequencing software called 'reason', which has some very nice synthesizer patches. I know what you mean about tangerine dream.. not the best musicians in the world and half of their albums are very bad... but i like some of their early stuff ifrom the 70's
