I've been told that some of the concepts from Imagining the Tenth Dimension are reminiscent of what you can learn from Japanese anime or video games. This blog focuses on one of those videos and talks about relate topics.

  • can anyone spell the anime he showed on his video for me

  • It's from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. If you follow the link in the description box back to the text version of this blog you'll be able to get to more info about the show.

    Thanks!

    Rob

  • Wow.. That anime in the beginning sure prolonged that obvious statement.

When i said "Gameprogramming", meant in the way that games are made, and not the result that anyone can observe.

    I meant the code (:

The dimensions of a game in code is determined by a so called "Matrix". It's where you make all the game world equations. Such as rotation the camera, moving x,y,z or stretching the pov.

That's what i wanted you to actually look at!

Was quite a nice video anyway. (:

  • Aha! Definitely the same considerations of matrices and transformations in augmented reality programming as well, that's why I became so fascinated with creating those sorts of experiences.

    Thanks for writing,

  • the steins gate anime and the games ever 17 and remember 11 are also based on tenth dimensionand alternative realities . the ever 17 game actually explains the 5 th dimension quite good.

  • Wikipedia quote:

"Noein makes use of several interpretations of quantum physics, particularly Hugh Everett's Many-Worlds Interpretation, which views the universe as branching off into an infinity of possible states of varying probability. It also draws from the Copenhagen Interpretation, which suggests that an observer or measurement is important in determining the decoherency of the probability."

  • Though the fact that is a "cartoon" series might not get your attention I highly recommended. The whole story is based on many of the things you talk about. The wikipedia entry explains it better then I and though it is an anime it certainly wasn't meant for kids has its main audience, the things it talks about are too complex and I had to watch it twice in order to clarify some of the dialogs.

Found a short clip on youtube: watch?v=U8bldfMXf0s

    Keep up the good work!

    Greetings from Portugal.

  • Hi, Rob.

I've been following you're project for sometime now and I really like it, definitely some food for the mind.

On of the reasons I ended up knowing about youre channel was after searching youtube, for stuff mentioned on Noein, a Japanese animated series.

  • The thing that the anime clip is stating is the same as "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound."

  • Thank you for these truly mind opening and illuminating blogs, and in general for your whole science philosophical project.

I love how philosophy and intricate scientific innovations some times find a place in popular culture.

I thought there might be some Kant embedded in your anime clip there, in that the objects are directed by our cognition and experience, and not the other way around, as the world is forged by our a priori conceiving of it, through space and time forms of perception:=)

  • I'm gonna have to check out those later though. I guess i'll just subscribe to you for now!

    You're worth a chance (:
