Wow. What garbage.... I happen to live rather close to this construction and all 13 years of my life I have never gotten sick for this arsenic. Want to know why? Because they have treated the soil for years and it is clean. By grandfather worked in the smelter and he is fine. This is a load of bullshit.

What the makers of this video won't tell you is that they, along with the protestors you will see on Dock Street outside the Point Ruston showroom, are paid by union representatives who are upset that the builders didn't hire unionized contractors, and are doing this smear campaign to leverage the developer into submitting to their demands, or coughing up a bribe.

Welcome to business in Tacoma. Wear gloves because you're gonna get covered in sh_t.

The Asarco Smelter site (Asarco is a Mexican company, by the way) is a Superfund site. Yes, it was contaminated wtih arsenic. But thanks to a 20 year clean up, the contaminated soil was removed from the lower site where this work is occuring and was put in a containment site nearby and sealed under EPA supervision.

This hilarious. I'm sure, like on any construction site, illegal immigrants have been hired to do the crappy work that no one else wants to do. Given that these guys don't speak english AND won't reveal their identity, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet about what's happening here. And by their own descriptions, it sounds like appropriate precautions are being taken to protect them.

Facts are facts, its not difficult to find the truth about this site if you are willing to research the unfortunate history of this location. The EPA railroaded the city to accept terms that leave a contaminated legacy for all of us to suffer through. Do your homework before you post.

The family of the workers have been receiving death threats. The family of the worker that died chose not to have an autopsy done, for fear it would appear that they were assisting in the investigation. A heart attack at the age of 30? Well, "seattlesuks" what medical school did you graduate from? The cause of death is unknown and the body was shipped back to Mexico. When there is a billion bucks on the line, people tend to shut up.

A heart attack caused by what? Why would Puget sound be a superfund site and the land the smelt was on be the Garden of Eden?

What mythbuster doesn't say below is that that worker died from a heart attack.
