Golden Crowned Sparrow ( Zonotrichia atricapilla), Video; Taken on the Central West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, on October 30, 2010. This songbird dropped in on his way south for the Winter. He is singing, but this is his Fall migration and not his breeding season. He stopped in briefly for but a day, then carried on his way for his warmer habitat; south on the West Coast of North America. He is not seen in this video, he is just heard singing. Other birds; Chickdees, and Robins chirp in the back, and hop about in the holly tree. In the far distance ...can be heard another Golden Crowned Sparrow, singing in answer to the bird I am recording. Some Golden Crowned Sparrows stay here on Vancouver Island and many fly south to warmer climates... for the Winter. On the day this Sparrow dropped in, Other birds listed (but not video`d) were also here, the same day this video was taken; American Robin, House Sparrow, House Finch, Nuthatch, Chickadee, Spotted Towhee, Junco, Steller`s Jay, European Starling, Northern (Red Shafted) Flicker and a few Hermit Thrush.
Some Golden Crowned Sparrows have stayed around my home so far. I have still images of them now, a gentle song, and sweet little bird. November 13, 2010.
