If you master this trackstand, next try to do the advanced trackstand, i.e. while balancing an apple pie on your head, much more challenging.

In the video you said "Roll forward and backward". Forward is fine but how to go backwards in a freewheel bike?
Cheers....

when you become good at this you can try to put your hands straight out. you will need a slight uphill because you cant balance with brakes. if your front wheel is pointing left use your left leg to pressure against top tube to "lock in" frame. best of luck

i can do it without moving back and forth. I stop completely, but however leaning towards left and right to maintain my balance

so u cant do this at flat ground?
GurgelGnorf 1 year ago
This is a good question: yes, you can do it on flat ground. But, a slight incline allows you to have something to "pedal against" if that makes sense. Once you get it down on a slight (up) incline. Then try it on flat ground. Once you have flat ground mastered, try a slight decline which is even more difficult but can be helpful in very technical terrain..

question: I am considering getting my first set of clipless pedals to be able to do mostly XC and mountain biking. def looking at entry level pedals but shoe wise most of the shoes ive seen don't look comfortable. Im in college and ride my bike everywhere. I'm looking for comfortable more multipurpose shoes good to walk around school, biking around town and the trails. any suggestions?

We recommend that if you are getting a pair of clipless pedals you get a good pair. The reason is that we have seen some low-end clipless pedals that have inconsistent "release points" which could make it harder to get out of the pedals... not good at any time, but especially bad when you are learning to use them. There are several multi-purpose shoes with SPD cleats. Shimano, for one, makes a couple - including an SPD sandal!
